Northern Research Centers

A division of the Coasters Association serves as a hub for science and technology in northern Quebec, focusing on social & economic development.

Our Mission

The Northern Research Center (NRC) facilitates and conducts scientific, economic, and social research and acts as a hub of northern knowledge. The NRC aims to synchronize knowledge from all fields of sciences to implement change, innovation, and growth in the Lower North Shore of Quebec communities.

To accomplish our mission, the NRC delivers all of its programs and services through three primary streams:

Citizens of the Lower North Shore have the capacity and connections to move the region’s development forward.

Develop

and diversify the economy in Quebec’s Northern regions (Plan Nord)

Support

the effective stewardship of Quebec’s Arctic lands, waters, and resources

Enhance

knowledge of the northern natural resources for high-end markets and create a hub for scientific activity and innovation in Quebec’s Isolated and Rural communities

Inspire

and build capacity through training, education, and outreach

Improve

and develop the social development in Quebec’s Northern Regions

Promote

resilient, self-sufficient, vibrant, and healthy Northern communities
